An existing 1940s weatherboard clad home has a short walk up to the main level, with a large north facing deck, open plan living room, dining and kitchen and 3 bedrooms. There is a single bathroom. Downstairs is a basement/rumpus room. The project involves the addition of a wing to the west side of the property, attached to the living room, which has a new master bedroom, ensuite and laundry. The addition is modern with vertical cedar weatherboards and aluminium windows. The scale responds to the existing house and a dynamic space is created between the structures by the two forms tilting away from each other.
